Chronic illness is not your definition.
You are not your illness. You are not a lone soul.
I am not a damsel in distress. I am a Chronic Warrior.
There is far too much stigma surrounding chronic illness. Chronic illness is not a sign of weakness. It is not an impediment to success. It is not a definition.
The one-dimensional paradigm of disability which is so often portrayed is non-inclusive of countless chronic illness sufferers whose disabilities are INVISIBLE.
This universal depiction fails to acknowledge the full spectrum of disability which exists:
As a young woman with a disability, I am not in search of pity, but of self-empowerment, greater social awareness, and equal opportunity. I am not a Damsel in Distress. I am a Chronic Warrior.
I write a blog which examines many aspects of chronic illness, ranging from disclosure of my tailored self-treatment plan (Personalised "Self-care"), to more contemplative pieces exploring my own experiences.

Battling the Stigma of Chronic Illness
DO YOU.
DO YOU.
Lyme Disease Awareness
Niamh's Fight Against LymeAs a chronic Lyme sufferer, I am ever grateful to all those who support me on my road to recovery. Treatment for chronic Lyme is poorly accessible in the U.K. and many of us are compelled to travel for our recovery. This invokes huge costs and emotional strain. Thank you to everyone who has contributed to my fund.
